A course in hair care/ hair dressing prepares the students for entrance into a challenging and creative world of employment, and provides the foundation upon which students pave their entry into the business world and self-employment.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- For NQF Level 1: Grade 8 qualification
- For NQF Level 2: Grade 9 qualification OR NQF Level 1 qualification OR Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for candidates who may have had exposure to relevant work experience such as in a salon
- For NQF Level 3: NQF Level 2
- For NQF Level 4: NQF Level 3
DURATION & REGISTRATION
The duration of the entry level skills course (i.e. NQF Level 1) is six months. The duration of all other levels (i.e. NQF Levels 2-4) is one year.
Registration for NQF Level 1 takes place twice a year, in January and July. However, registration for the year programmes takes place once a year, in January.
QUALIFICATIONS
- NQF Level 1 – on completion of this level, students will have accumulated 50 credits and obtain a certificate
- NQF Level 2 – on completion this level, students will have accumulated 130 credits and obtain a certificate
- NQF Level 3 – on completion of this level, students will have accumulated 121 credits and obtain a certificate
- NQF Level 4 – on completion of this level, students will have accumulated 129 credits and obtain a certificate
ASSESSMENT
- Students will undergo continuous formative assessment conducted by internal assessors and moderators
- Internal and external assessors will oversee summative assessment, moderated by external moderators accredited by the relevant Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA)
